The Town of Golden has partnered
Area A of the Columbia Shuswap Regional District to implement an Emergency Response and Recovery Plan for the
Couminity of Golden. The purpose of the plan is to help the Local authority
The BC Emergency Program Act
The Act sets out responsibilities for emergency management within
the province. The Town of Golden and Area "A" of the Columbia Shuswap
Regional District are each a 'local authority' and specifically required to
plan for emergencies. The Act states that:
A local authority must prepare or cause to be prepared local
emergency plans respecting preparation for, response to and recovery from
emergencies and disasters.
And:
...establish and maintain an emergency management organization
to develop and implement emergency plans and other preparedness, response, and
recovery measures...
Your
local government is prepared for emergencies. Are you?
After a disaster (fire,
earthquake, toxic spill, etc.) you may have to look after yourself for 72 hours
or longer until services or supplies are restored. Temporarily you may have to
leave your home and go to a reception center for help with food, clothing or
lodging
Be
prepared to be on your own without help for 72 hours or more, at home, in your
car or at work. Securing your home and putting together an emergency kit is
